Earn college credit for foreign language proficiency!
Can you speak, read, and write in a foreign language? Do you have academic proficiency, even though you have not taken college-level courses in the language? If so, the Language Center can evaluate your foreign language proficiency and, based on that evaluation, you can earn college credit at UNC.
You will be evaluated on a scale from Poor to Excellent in:
- Comprehension
- Fluency, speaking ability
- Pronunciation
- Grammar
- Reading
- Writing
Depending on the evaluation results, a maximum of 12 lower division credits and 6 upper division credits may be awarded. An "Excellent" must be earned in all categories to earn 6 upper division credits.
